Press Release Desk , News Partner Posted Reply Press release from Montgomery County Government: January 18, 2023 NORRISTOWN, PA – Norristown Farm Park , in partnership with nonprofit Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, will host a volunteer Master Naturalist Training Course where Montgomery County residents can learn more about nature and support conservation efforts. The 50-hour course will take place from April 5 - June 21, 2023. Classes will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and for four Saturday field sessions on April 15, May 6, May 20 and June 3. After the course, participants will take part in 30 hours of service and eight hours of continuing education to become certified. The cost is $400 per person. Registration is required. Ruben Gallego to Step Down as Head of BOLD PAC to Focus on Senate Bid
Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) will step down as the head of BOLD PAC, the political arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), at the end of the quarter to focus on his 2024 Senate bid. This comes on the heels of his Senate bid announcement on Monday and recent reelection to serve another term as head of the PAC after a strong midterm election cycle. The PAC, under Gallego, reportedly bought nine new members to the CHC, in addition to defending all of the incumbents who were up for reelection. “Being able to leave with the highest amount of Latino Democrats ever in Congress is something that I can be very proud of,” he told the Hill . Man Shot Dead After Allegedly Opening Fire on Police Helicopter
A Detroit, Michigan, man was shot dead Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. after allegedly pointing a green laser at a police helicopter, then opening fire on it as it hovered above his house. 7 WXYZ reported the man was on the second floor of a home when he allegedly flashed a green laser into the cockpit of the helicopter. The pilot contacted police dispatch and told them the location of the home, and informed them that someone on the second floor was pointing the laser. The window on the second floor was closed and a man, who appeared to be holding a long gun, walked into the backyard and allegedly began shooting at the helicopter. The pilot said, “Now there’s somebody standing at the back door. Right now, they’re in the backyard. He actually might, he might be armed. He almost looks like he’s holding a long gun pointed at us right now. Yeah, he’s shooting at us right now. He’s firing rounds.
